So part 2 of our tour saw us getting back up to Scotland for the first time since T in the Park

Wednesday 1st June: Destination Glasgow

So 9am set off from Wrexham, to give us a casual, non-diesel guzzling journey up to Glasgow. 9 miles down the road in Chester and we’ve forgotten something.

Nick was most pleased about having to wait for the van to go back to Wrexham to pick up set lists and mailing lists.

The van arrives and we can set back off on our journey.

A quick stop at the service station sees Danny trying to find a sleeping partner....can he do it....

Arriving at Scotland, we find time to chill for a ‘wee’ while.

We then played in Bloc, Glasgow, which was a lovely little venue.

Tour Diary Pt1: Local Festivals

It’s part 1 of our 2nd ‘the Race’ tour, and the first couple of dates were local festivals,

Saturday night we headlined the ‘Focus Wales’ festival that had taken place at Central.

Here’s two pictures to show how excited 2 men are to soundcheck, which considering it’s our first of the tour, is a little worrying.

Was a good gig, and hopefully Focus Wales will return next year, North Wales needs something like it.

Although the tour is meant to be promoting ‘The Race’ a few new ones snuck into the set, as Wrexham have been hearing XYZ, since 2008, and well, we didn’t feel like playing Thistles.

Today we graced a nice afternoon slot on the second stage of Osfest.

No soundcheck so the next best thing to do to prepare for a gig:

I won’t say any more about this as, a band member will get in trouble.

The band has a bit of a pecking order, and unfortunately, certain members now walk to gigs.

New EP details

Our new EP will be titled ‘The Race’ and will be released in February 2011

We have secured physical and digital distribution for the EP which means it will be available physically and digitally in a lot more stores.

Track listing and artwork is all over on the releases page,

We are also booking a tour to coincide with the release, dates to be announced soon.

We have been quiet because we have been finishing recording our follow up to Transitions....we’re just waiting on it to be finished mixing.

We don’t have a title for the EP yet, or artwork...but if you’re following us on twitter or facebook you should be getting an A-Z of EP news as it comes in.

We’re looking at an early 2011 release date, with a tour to coincide.

Crusaders Opening / New Website

We can now offer streaming music, videos and pictures from this site, so go and have a look!

The gigs we have got coming up are all great...

On the 14th August we play the Redi Daze, which is free, all day in Bellevue Park and some great bands are playing, Gallops, Roseville Band, Heal the Last Stand, No Room for Heroes and a lot more so make sure you show your faces.

On the 22nd August, we play our ‘first stadium gig’. We are playing before kick off in Wrexham Racecourse Ground before the Crusdaders vs St Helens game...if you’re going make sure you’re about for 2:15pm to catch us from the beginning of our set!

On the 17th Septemeber we return to the Frenzi Night Club to play for Faction Night, good times....

'Song for the dead' has begun spinning on local stations, thanks to Adam Walton and Friday Night Gerbil for playing this track over the weekend.

FNG also made it their introducing track which means it should be on Radio 1 sometime in the next couple of weeks..

It's safe to say Jklmno are the first band I have ever come across whose moniker is unpronounceable. Tricky name aside, for anyone who was a Snow Patrol fan from the days when you could turn up at Barfly on the night they were playing and still get a ticket, this could be your lucky day. 'Locking Doors' will sound vaguely familiar, as it strongly holds in a wide range of influences from the band, coming together to make one hell of a summer festival song. '7 Days In The Sky' is more of a single than the lead-off track, full of melodic spine tingling hooks that would have made it a worthy contender for an episode of the OC, with Carl Harrison's softly sung vocals pulling at your heart strings from the word go. As the EP comes to a close, the mellow swansong of 'Come Forth You Kings' leaves you wanting more - as well driving yourself crazy trying to say their name so you can run out and tell everyone you know about them.

JKLMNO. No, I’m not reciting the alphabet, that’s the name of the winning band in Supajam’s Fast Track to Benicassim competition. The Wrexham based outfit triumphed against 1’000 bands and from their early doors set it’s easy to see why. An accidental collision of band member and equipment threatens their start but it’s unusual to find an unsigned one showing this much confidence.

Choruses build and pulsate, readily embracing the hope and candor that the likes of Snow Patrol and Sigur Ros possess with their endearing hits. The song they entered the competition with, The War Song, even pails in comparison to the rest of their set. In fact with a production gloss-over Nothing To Lose could easily become their singalong, arms aloft anthem. At one point it’s just lead singer Carl Harrison and the drummer Nick Roberts, stripping the sound down to its emotive bare bones. Harrison almost has the look of a budding Chris Martin at this point, concentrating on his keyboard before delivering sincerely soft lyrics.

It soon becomes a well rounded set. Gradually lulling the sound down with ornate feather-light guitar melodies leaving the lyrics to shine through whilst they aren’t afraid of ballsy, proud chords either. All this assured playing renders their complex name a paradox amongst such seemingly effortless songs. They end on a song entitled Future Potential, as if they needed to tell us.
